“In June 2017, Acorn engaged the services of David Simpson and his company Health and Wellbeing Solutions Ltd to carry out a health assessment on our employees based at our Head Office in Newport. As an Investors in People company, and as we are working towards the Welsh Government’s Corporate Heath Standard, we thought it would be a valuable exercise. Having not undertaken anything similar previously, we were unsure what the uptake would be. We actually ended up with a waiting list which demonstrates that this is something that our employees feel strongly about.

David spent 30 minutes with each employee and assessed various things such as BMI and blood pressure. Importantly, David also took the time to discuss the results and provide advice regarding diet, alcohol consumption, exercise, mental health and stress reduction. Employees also received a advice booklet which they could take away with them and refer to at a later date.

The feedback from employees was excellent with 100% saying that they would recommend the service to other employees. 75% of those who attended stated they would consider improving their lifestyle as a result of attending the appointment.

David provided a friendly, professional and confidential service and made employees feel at ease. He provided us with a detailed report and analysis of the data gathered which has provided some valuable information and has resulted in us re-evaluating our health & wellbeing strategy.
